Jamie's blogI Grew a SproutSubmitted by Jamie on Thu, 06/26/2008 - 23:36.A modern technology. Cool toys out there these days. I just made my self a 'Sprout' in a few minutes. The new release has lots of cool tools and is super easy to use. Great opportunity to make quick and affordable widgets, banners, and promotions for any kind of online marketing campaign, or just for fun. Hello TwellowSubmitted by Jamie on Thu, 06/26/2008 - 18:49.I'm still a complete newbie to Twitter, and still don't know what the point of it is (nor does anybody, really). But hey, at least the guys at WebProNews have launched their alpha version of a new search site called 'Twellow', at http://www.twellow.com/. Girls and Airplanes - VentureWeb Likes TourismSubmitted by Jamie on Wed, 06/25/2008 - 20:54.It's no secret that we at VentureWeb world headquarters are keen on outdoor recreation, travel & tourism. From mine and Jim's education background in tourism and sports management, to Olly's unexplainable interest in 'Spirit Moon' wildlife T-shirts, we see it everywhere. Did You Download Firefox 3 For Download Day?Submitted by Jamie on Thu, 06/19/2008 - 16:22.I did. I had my doubts, as I watched the Mozilla site experience outages from time to time. And I had my doubts about it's security and functionality as a new browser release. But when co-worker Olly downloaded it before me and flaunted it's features in front of us, I had to go for it. Plus the guilt of having 'pledged' to download if for the world record was slowing kicking in. Aparently Canadians are 'Slow', At least as Far as the Internet is ConcernedSubmitted by Jamie on Fri, 05/30/2008 - 15:55.Read an interesting article today "From First to Worst" by David Crane. In it he clearly outlines how Canada drifted from being a leader in broadband infrastructure to instead take up the ranking of 'slow kid in the pack'. Check out the web development portfolio for more info. The Roof Is On FireSubmitted by Jamie on Wed, 03/05/2008 - 17:28.As if things weren't hot enough around VentureWeb's Squamish headquarters lately, the action kicked up a notch when a live fire show went off right across the street. Yep, a small workshed on the property adjacent to us was up in flames for an hour last week, quite the show. We hope there wasn't too much damage nor injury, as we did enjoy the show. Here's a few photos of the action. Inline ImageSquamish Oceanfront Site LaunchSubmitted by Jamie on Mon, 01/21/2008 - 20:11.
It is great to see this interactive and current website live for the community to enjoy. The new format is focused on two-way communication, with reader polls and reader comments to allow site vistiors to share their thoughts with fellow community members and SODC board members. More about this project in the porfolio. VentureWeb Goes Cat SkiingSubmitted by Jamie on Fri, 01/11/2008 - 01:12.All smiles at VentureWeb Headquarters in Squamish, and not because have a cooler for of bananas, apples and nuts left over from the weekend. We headed up to visit our clients at Backcountry Snowcats north of Pemberton this past weekend for some DEEP powder shredding and product testing, because you know, someone has to do it. And as predicted, snow is directly related to online marketing. Take Backcountry Snowcats for example. It dumps a few feet, and we go up to enjoy it. Now only 4 days later, www.snowcats.ca will be reaping the rewards of their first e-newsletter blast heading out the door tomorrow, heaps of new website content including their season intro, snowfall update, Vancouver Special, updated photo galleries, and a new video (starring us). Add that to the killer grass roots contest that just launched today, and their site isn't going to know what hit'em. Did someone say contest. Heck ya. Come up with the name for their new 3000 ft descent, and WIN a Cat Skiing weekend. Otherwise, go check it out anyways, as the photos and videos will hint at... it didn't exactly suck. |
